Instructors at the Tenchi Goju Ryu Budokai have over forty-five years of combined training in the classical art of Goju Ryu karate. All instructors are certified by the International Okinawan Goju Ryu Karate Federation and the National College of Martial Arts International. All instructors are required to test for their ranking and are also required to maintain a high level of competence in order to retain their instructor certification. Senior Instructor Brock Sensei was trained and graded by Sensei Robert Mallin who is a fifty-one year veteran of the martial arts. He devoted his life to instructing Goju Ryu until health issues forced his retirement. Mallin Sensei also trained extensively in Japan while in the military, grading to Shodan in the presence of Yamaguchi Gogen Sensei, Miyagi Chojun Sensei's appointed head of Japanese Goju. Brock Sensei currently trains with Lou Angel Sensei, Tetsuji Nakamura Sensei and Morio Higaonna Sensei who is considered the best Goju Ryu karateka on the planet. He has also trained with many other noted martial artists as well as on Okinawa, the birthplace of karate. All instructors have extremely high moral and ethical standards and are well respected in the community. You can feel confident that you and your family will be in a wholesome environment and among respectable, knowledgeable and dedicated instructors who sincerely desire to share their gift of karate with you.
